Every engagement starts with the reason you need the number. That reason picks the standard of value, the depth of report and who will read it, so the services below are grouped by purpose rather than by method.
Indicative valuations from A$799. Certified Summary and Detailed reports from seven business days.
Sydney Business Valuations provides certified business valuations across three groups of purpose: sale, deals and planning; tax and compliance; and disputes and litigation. Each service page explains when the valuation is required, which approach leads, where valuations go wrong and which of the three report types fits. Indicative valuations are for internal decision-making; Summary and Detailed reports are certified.
The same analysis sits behind every report we issue. What changes is how much of it is written down for a reader, and that depends on who the reader is. An owner planning ahead needs a range they can act on. A lender, a court, the ATO or the other side of a dispute needs a certified opinion whose reasoning they can follow and test.
Valuations that set or test a price: business sales and acquisitions, family succession, group restructures and start-up equity.
Sell-side and buy-side valuations, normalised earnings, price mechanisms and earn-outs.

Read moreOwners tell us the part they value most, after the number itself, is knowing what happens next. The steps are the same for every service. What varies is the information requested and the depth of the written report.
A free conversation to identify the purpose, the interest being valued, who will read the report and what information exists. That conversation settles the standard of value and the report depth before any fee is agreed.
A written list of what we need: financial statements and tax returns, management accounts, the constitution or shareholders agreement, leases, key contracts and anything specific to the purpose. Delivery is measured from the day the last item arrives.
Normalisation of the accounts, selection and application of the approaches, derivation of rates and multiples from named sources, discounts where the interest requires them, and reconciliation to a range.
A second certified valuer reviews the workfile and the draft before anything leaves the office. Every judgement has a written reason attached to it.
The valuer walks you through the result and answers questions. Your accountant or lawyer is welcome to join; many clients say it is the most useful hour of the engagement.
Signed and delivered digitally, from seven business days after we receive the information. The valuer remains available to explain or defend the opinion afterwards.
Communication at each step is part of the service. You will know who is working on the file, what stage it is at and when the next step is due.
Two instruments are often confused with the services above. A statutory independent expert report, which the Corporations Act requires for takeovers, schemes of arrangement and certain shareholder approvals and which ASIC Regulatory Guides 111 and 112 govern, is a licensed financial service. We do not issue those reports. We do prepare the underlying valuation analysis that a licensed expert relies on, and we provide independent opinions for boards on private transactions where no statutory report is triggered.
The second is the online calculator or broker estimate. Our free business valuation calculator is an educational tool and says so on the page. A broker's figure is a marketing estimate tied to a sale. Neither is evidence. Where a figure will be relied on, a certified valuer signs it and stands behind it.
Every service page pairs with our Sydney industry pages, which explain how the approaches apply to medical and dental practices, professional firms, hospitality venues, trades, technology and transport businesses, and with the three valuation approach pages that hold this site's method explanations.
